Hmm, doesn't it depend on what you consider an 'active member'. If someone visits once a week, or once a month to post, are they really active? And if they only post once during that time, or if they post 10 times each?

I think active defines as not being an apprentice (as lots of members with tons of posts are) and posting in the last two weeks. If you want to post, but can't then your still active. If you don't want to is a totally different story.
Edit: On a side note, the reason people join is because they're interested in talking with others. But when they join and don't post, is because they can't say anything. That was how I felt when I first joined.

Is that because they can't work out how to, or are they really just that shy?

Perhaps both?
Personally, I think that we're a caring group of people. So I think most just don't know how to work things out. I only found out a few days ago how to quote. :D
Shouldn't we have a forum to help the newbies out?
