I still find it bizarre you guys have this holiday and we don't.

She's just one of the Queens of England for you guys. Except for us, she contributed much to Canada, namely, was the monarchy when Canada achieved independence. Plus she was in every school during the 1800s to the early 1900s.

Thankfully, we don't celebrate this holiday. But we are a republic. So it is not exactly a Commonwealthy thing.

Yeah, I was ranting about the fact that only we seem to have this holiday here on IRC.

So we're the only ones who have four months containing long weekends in a row too? W00T!

I don't think much about the Kings and Queens of UK, to be honest. Or any royalty, for the matter. They are made superior just by birth and that is kinda stupid. Especially the royalties of the recent years. They have done little to get this kind of attention or position.

Yes, but this is why we don't celebrate every member of royalty. Because Victoria did do something significant for Canada, chiefly, its independence.

And the reason they made their children their heirs was because they knew that their blood flowed through their offspring. And if a man had superior abilities physically and mentally that got him to such a superior position, then their children must be just as great.

Obviously this is no longer the case. But it's just tradition.

Plus, I don't really care about celebrating about royalty. It's a holiday.
