Worst fate; So who had come off worse?

So all of them - Nathaniel, Kitty, Bartimaeus had to do something or sacrifice something to survive (relatively speaking). It was bad, but who had the worst ending?

I'm not going to post my views until I know where this topic is going, so forgive me for this being short.

By the way, remember to not be too shallow : we all know JS intentionally roped the story off without putting final closures; so some of us can think that Kitty will find out the truth by summoning Bartimaeus, some of us will think she'll move on and marry Jakob, or that she'll remain single until her death Nat implied that he thought Bartimaeus WILL be summoned again, especially by Kitty (and he isn't normally wrong) but Kitty's sure to mention the name of the djnni that helped so much in the Makepeace Conpiracy, mentioning that he's dead in the process. Others may think that despite all the odds, Nat might still survive. So this is actually an answr depending on your POV.

So... who has the worst fate?

Weeeell... Bartimaeus probably has it best, seeing as there's little chance he'll ever be summoned again, Kitty was seemed pretty depressed at the end, but she'll probably get over it, so Nathaniel. Not to mention his life was never that great to begin with.

Kitty, because she's still confined to this crappy world.

Have a nice day.

I say Kitty too. Though amongst the 3 she suffers the worst fate, she is pretty lucky. She deserves better & hopefully, she will see her fate change for the better.

1. Queezle - Her name doesn't come from anywhere, I don't think. I just made it up! It was kind of meant to make her sound nice. I feel a bit sorry that I killed her off so fast; she is an interesting character.

When he does check again, there's a huge line. Don't rush him. It's better for the fans if he keeps writing.

Emotionally, Kitty.
Physically, Nat.
All Bart got was the lack of getting a word in edgewise :)

Dying definitely isn't the worst. People die all the time. For most of us, life is too sweet to forgo, but some live such terrible lives. What I don't understand is, why dying is considered so heroic. It is certainly braver to survive a life of turbulence than taking an easy way out.

I think it's considered heroic because under normal situations they would not have chosen to end their life this way. As shown in the cases of Nat or Queezle.
Look, Queezle.

but some live such terrible lives

For someone her age, Kitty's life isn't something I'd call terrible.

Yeah, 'cause there's lots of teenagers that are domestic terrorists raging against a corrupt government, right?

*Points at Northern Ireland (formerly), + the rest of corrupt countries*

Not that I'm agreeing that it wasn't terrible. But it's more numerous than you believe.
