Well as I said, if not disregarding the 7 planes all together then they must operate on higher. |

When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney. Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you. | |

Feh. I suppose so, it just seems more likely not. But yours in the easy answer. |

About the tentacles: I hope this was not already mentioned. I'm pretty sure Barty's 7th plane form involves little or no tentacles; the tentacles are a reference to Faquarl's form. I've always envisioned Faquarl's true form to be like this:http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__RuP2uZFqD0/RsTnd7Z3v_I/AAAAAAAAADw/wgfo93Tndyk/s320/cthulhu6_s.jpg |

The tentacles were indeed in reference to Faquarl, Bart said: "I'm no great looker myself, but Faquarl has too many tentacles for my taste." |

And I'm assuming that the part in the book when Barty says that "there is something with tentacles behind you right now" is also Faquarl. |

No, that's in Golem's Eye, when Bart is recapping the whole idea of planes. And, as I do: "Higher being (such as me) can use inner eyes to see al planes at once, but more lowly creatures much make do with fewer. Humans are remarkably lowly. Magicians use contact lenses to see up to three, but most only see the first plane, making them ignorant on all magical activity. For example, there could be something invisible with lots of tentacles hovering behind you right NOW." Or something like that, someone go look it up for me. |

Corroberated. P. 2 in Golem's Eye. Typos in yours, so for the sake of neatness: "Higher beings (such as me) can use inner eyes to observe planes at once, but more lowly creatures have to make do with seeing fewer. Humans are remarkably lowly. Magicians use contact lenses to see planes two to three, but most people only see the first plane, and this makes them ignorant on all magical activity. For example, there's probably something invisible with lots of tentacles hovering behind your back right NOW." Who didn't turn around when they read that? |

I didn't turn around. After all, it's invisible. I'm impressed by the accuracy of Dansariki's recall of that quote.. |

So am I, I thought I was more off. And yeah, when I don't pay attention my spelling and grammar go off in both typing and speaking. And I didn't, I just smiled. |

I whipped around, only to find a broken copy of Great Expectations staring glumly back at me. And Dansarinki- did you memorize the book or something? |

No, my memory's just that good. I'm actually kind of disappointed, the tense of the whole thing is wrong. Plus, I have re-read the series... idk how many times now. GE's the least, so more of it's fuzzy than the other two. |

Let's sharpen it up then. Near the beginning of GE, Barty describes his master in Prague and mentions in a footnote that comparing masters is like comparing facial spots. What was said in that footnote? |
"Give me back my face!" "Look at that sunset. Like blood and melted cheese."

Umm... Some are worse, some better, but none strike one's fancy? I'm pretty adept at remember how people speak. Cuz all I really remember was the vague thought. I'm listening to music, so tell me if I'm right. I don't wanna cheat :/ |

You caught the key words, but you missed a concept. "Comparing masters is rather like comparing facial spots: some are worse than others, but even the best don't exactly tickle your fancy. This one was the twelfth Czech magician I'd served. He wasn't overly cruel, but he was a bit sour, as if lemon juice ran in his veins. He was also thin-lipped and pedantic, obsessed with his duty to the Empire." |
