A number of things to consider: a) St Patrick's day is silly. b) YOU'RE NOT IRISH c) I'm actually wearing green, as I am most days. This has nothing to do with it being St Patrick's day. I only know it is because Gladstone keeps complaining about it. d) You don't have any green either, as I removed your signature for being way over the filesize limit. While I'm at it, hotlinking is bad form. Rehost it on imageshack or something (which will also let you scale it down). e) Did I mention you're NOT IRISH? Americans grasping at their ancestry to try and get some sort of ethnic identity perpetually amuses me, especially when they're also ultra-patriotic Americans... |

I love how the St. Pattys day parade in my city took place a few days ago and not today. Then again, I suppose they figured it was the weekend people would more likely act like drunkard than on a Wednesday. (But if that was their rationale then it was a fail one considering that this entire week is Spring Break.) As for my holiday cheer, I wear green and shamrocks all the time...at school. |

Is there anything wrong if Irish Americans celebrate Patrick's day? Wikipedia informs me that the Irish diaspora living in different parts of the world celebrate it. Does it make anyone less American (or whatever country they are citizens of now) if they celebrate it? Sorry if the question sounds stupid or offensive or anything. I have little idea about all this immigration, nativeness and stuff. Anyway, I was just curious. |

It's not so much the ones that actually have Irish ancestry that annoy me (though as mentioned I do find it amusing when they're both ultra-patriotic Americans and go on about their ancestry from such and such a place), it's the ones that don't, or might have had an Irish ancestor a few centuries ago that annoy me. |

a) Thats why its fun! b) I don't care! I do it for the above reason. d) My signature seemed to be fine up to this point. I thought I made sure to resize it properly when I added it. As for the hotlinking, I'll keep that in mind. e) See reasons a & b. |

Jumping in late on the argument boat, but personally I give deadarm to anyone who isn't wearing green. I give double deadarm if they claim to be Irish only because it's Saint Patties day. I'm almost fullblooded Irish, so I hate when people are only Irish for Saint Patties day. |

I didn't notice while I was at uni on a fast internet connection. Now I'm at home on a slow one. Using the resize tags only changes the dimensions, it doesn't drop the filesize, which was over a megabyte, well over the limit. |

I believe people can be American, and still keep in touch with their ancestral roots. I think that is called, Culture. And we all need culture, without it, then we're all robots. And boring. And if everyone else wants to take a part in your culture for one day out of the year, then thats cool. |

Why do you need to be Irish to celebrate St. Patty's day again, Sent? It's originally a Catholic holiday, you can be Catholic and not Irish. Anyway, in my experience (at least among the people my age), people will take any excuse to go out and get wasted. Also, I didn't wear any green. ![]() Edit: Annnnnnnd, St. Patrick's day - The FAILBLOG Edited by FuzzyLobster, Mar 19 2010, 01:58 AM.

You don't, but as it's celebrated now it's an Irish festival, not religious. Mostly it's the way everybody pretends they are Irish that annoys me. I asked our resident drunkard about this, and he replied "why do they need an excuse? =/" |

Honestly I have no idea. But they seem to like having some sort of celebration-related excuse (usually a Semi-Formal or somebody's birthday), better than not having an excuse. Not that an excuse is ever required for them. I. Don't. Get. Teenagers. |
