DH was the last book of the series, that's the thing. It's the grand finale, the big moment, so if the filmmakers mess it up...

We will kill them  .

Well, try writing all the imp parts in DH. You will end up with one big list. Believe me, I tried it. And I even divided the parts into half. The ideal place to split the movie would be when Voldermort takes possession of the Elder Wand (the part after Harry buries Dobby). The evil grin on Voldermort's face would be a good way to end part 1. Also, it exactly divides the book into half (i.e. taking into account only the necessary parts - the first half of the book contains quite a few unnecessary ones).

Nothing But The Rain

The first two LotRs were three hours each. The third was three hours 20 minutes. Extended editions added 30 minutes to the first, 40 to the second and 50 to the third, pushing it over four hours long.

And with that, millions of children kept their eyes glued.
The movie can go on for quite a while (look at Indian movies) as long as it keeps the audience's attention and is meaningfully long.

But then wouldn't you start feeling uncomfortable after a while because you sat down for three whole hours in the movie theater?

That might decrease the attention span a bit...

The seats in the cinemas I go to are lovely and soft and i am too engrossed in the film to be distracted by the seat. :D

Yes, I've heard of their infamous length. I don't know a word of Hindi.

Some Indian movies go up to 4 hours???? Wow...

Well, think about this: you burn more calories standing up than sitting down. By 60 grams, I think. (I don't remember; my local news program started talking about it days ago.)

Pics, pics, and more pics...hopefully the trailer will come out soon. :sun:

i agree....i think it would be better to end part 1 just as dobby and harry are leaving Malfoy's house....Then part 2 can start with Ron , Hermione , Harry and everyone else at Shell cottage....

Ah, the movie got postponed to July of next year (I noticed that no one seems interested in this anymore). What the heck...that's like 10 more months we have to wait for now. :o

They showed the teaser trailer for nothing too.

Er, I actually suggested the part 1 end after the trio have made it to the Shell Cottage when Harry gets the image (or whatever the heck you call it) of Voldermort breaking into Dumbledore's tomb to get the Elder wand. Either way, it makes little difference. And the part of the 6th movie getting delayed by 8 months has really made me angry. Though I dunno why I bother, HP is practically done with.
