Bartimaeus's power; Lies, or boasting?

After 16 years of life, ive done things that people would think are not in my power to do. Im sure after 5000 years, Bart has done some stuff that seems beyond his capabilities also. He's been in tons of battles, and im sure has been commanded to do things he thought impossible. I dont think its unlikely to think that by some miracle (or accident) he killed 6 djinni at once. Maybe he shot a detonation, missed his target, the detonation got amplified by some artifact, hit a mountain, the mountain exploded killing 6 djinni. you never know. Its a world of magic, nothing really has to seem possible for it to actaully happen.

And Barti doesnt get weaker as he ages, he just gets more weary and cynical from the constant summonings.

Well thats just my 2 cents

I reckon, though his only middle ranking, he could still achieve all he claims. Just remember, djinni are earth creatures, they could move mountains if they wanted I guess.(probably small mountains though...). :cthulhu:

Djinni are fire and air creatures. They hate the earth.

But nothing can stop the golem but taking the parchment out or killing its master.

precisely so essentially only humans can kill a golem full on as we don't have essence. Just got to avoid the large hands and you're there
you have the power

Wrong. We could have essence, it's simply how the Golem was meant to work.
The Golem was created, designed for one thing- Destroying spirits. Not us.
If we had essences, they would be encased in our flesh, not making up our entire physical being, as it does in spirits from the Other Place.
Remember how Nouda's spirit was within Makepeace? How Bart, once inside Nat, didn't feel pain? Same principle. We could have a Marid's worth of power in our bodies, their essence, and, (assuming the power didn't kill us) we'd be fine.
Human bodies are apparently perfer carriers for Spirits from the Other Place, a coincedence and equalibrium I find appropriate.

Wrong.

Don't be so rough Dansariki.
And I don't think we have essence in our bones. More like marrow.

I was saying if we did than blah blah so on and so forth.
Sorry. I'll be nicer. Maybe.

:good: Mightbe that's precisely what happened ;) .

Well if it was during his first few summons, then it could be that it actually did hit six djinn. Though it probably hit an artifact, blew up Babylon's Hanging Gardens and killed more then six djinn. Though he said an artifact was misused, oddly, I think he misused one in one of the few places Bart mentioned in PG.

I kind of got the idea that just by resting in the other place Bartimaeus' power would get back to normal, if say no one summoned him for hundreds of years, but he was so worn out after a whole trilogy with Nathaniel he was very tired.
As for the 6 djinn...maybe he lured them in front of a golem or something.

I would think that a thousand years could barely get his flamboyant power back. But a least he gets a good rest now that people think he's dead.

I really doubt he could ever "fell forests with a single breath" and so on... However, it does seem that when he was first summoned he was pretty powerful.
