I just finished the first book in the Temeraire Series by Naomi Novik. It's great reading, and does not suck like Eragon, though they're both about dragon riders. Anyway, the main plot involves a British Navy Captain who attacks and takes over a French frigate with a dragon egg aboard. Naturally, they bond.

Anyway, check out this book, and the others in the series, The Jade Throne and Black Powder War. There's also a 4th book in Africa and another forthcoming book.

Peter Jackson's making a film of it too. :)

Nothing But The Rain

Dragons prefer the Napoleonic wars to their more traditional medieval setting, you see - they could never quite get the hang of opening the tinned knights.

Only finished part one of Throne of Jade (I've been busy, okay). What I've reads pretty good.
