Well most of the magicians that were in history or spirit names are famous people in history... Gladstone, Ptolemy (although the Bartimaeus one was similar, the real one and the Stroud one are different) Faust, Bartimaeus (a person in the Bible, forget anything else) and Honorius.

Yeah, Bartimaeus was the guy who was blind but Jesus enabled him to see. Hmm. Why did stroud choose such a wimpy name for the main character? Maybe he got it from somewhere else...

When did Ptolemy die again?

barty's name's awesome...when you say it it sounds powerful. especially if you're in a dark room with candles on standing in a pentacle, and have a deep voice.

I say he was pretty powerful... But how come he almost drowned in the Thames?

:new: He was forced into a physical form. He couldn't change form. Plus, if he had tried, the pressure from the water would have exploded his essence.

Would be gr8 if his name was Bratimaeus! We could then call him Brat! Which suits him brilliantly. ;)

I would if I was him.

O and btw, the river almost killed Honorious because of those reasons and he's an Afrit, a spirit of fire. Fire and water don't mix.
