I've said it before and I'll say it again. The ending was brilliant and necessary. As were all the books.

When I set out from the boy's attic window, my head was so full of competing plans and complex strategems that I didn't look where I was going and flew straight into a chimney. Something symbolic in that. It's what fake freedom does for you.

I loved that little final paragraph there in the end of PG where Barti talks about his feelings toward Nathaniel. It was a nice addition. "[...] I rather think he knew anyway." |

I rather liked the endings of all the books. I remember the ending for AoS ended with "Just something to remember me by". I can't think of a more satisfying closing statement than that. |
"Give me back my face!" "Look at that sunset. Like blood and melted cheese."

Yes, I really quite liked it-especially Ptolomaeus of Alexandria, Child-Magician and Master of Rekhyt (he's one of my favorite characters!). |

"I am Bartimaeus! I am Sakhr al-Jinni, N'gorso the Mighty and the Serpent of Silver Plumes! I have rebuilt the walls of Uruk, Karnak and Prague. I have spoken with Solomon. I have run with the buffalo fathers of the plains. I have watched over Old Zimbabwe till the stones fell and the jackals fed on its people." -Bartimaues, whom some call Rekhyt

yes and no because it was epic and great and an amazing ending. but nat died...and i hate characters that die in books. usually it makes me hate the whole series but i couldn't bring myself to hate this one, i liked nat's character development too much and barti's too funny. |
