And in the movie, there's one dwarf at the dwarf city and all the humans are African. |

IT IS ME! I am sure you have all missed me very very greatly. (Lets be honest, you don't remember who the hell I am). Armed with a laptop and a good internet connection I warn all those softy wimps who say they are in love with the piece of crap that paolini has forced upon young children that I am not to be reckoned with. I don't care if you are a nice person or if you happen to enjoy some of the better books in life. If you like Eragon or the thing that is its sequel you are the enemy. That being said: This book is an insult to literary minds everywhere. The man (confused isolated home schooled loser) has no idea how to write fiction. The book is choppy, and half of it isn't even needed. It doesn't flow and is hard to read. If you find the plot interesting I suggest you read ALL THE OTHER GOD DAMN BOOKS JUST LIKE IT! I cannot stress this enough. Many people have made this same remark but it doesn't seem to be getting through to you people. No matter how many times we say it you still rebuke that it has an intersting plot. You're right. It does. So does lord of the rings, STAR WARS and all the other MILLION BOOKS WITH DRAGON RIDERS. There are many. I may come back with a list. In some ways it is a good book because of this time old plot. But so many other authors have written it, and so much better, that its really more of an insult to all those proud TALENTED people who have written the classics we know and love. I will leave it to Post to fill in all the other things wrong with it (religous beliefs, mary sue-ism and much much more) but I also noticed mention of Cornelia Funke. Whatever you may think of her books, which I happen to like, it must be known that she is a million times better than that idiot who calls himself an author. Artemis: (Yes, I am at her house once again. For those of you interested, her new laptop is an HP Pavillion. Damn, am I jealous.) Yowza Athy, harsh much? Of course, I am also to blame. I egged you on. |

I haven't. But, I've already read Lord of the Rings! And Paolini has a better plot than a lot of other authors, especially *shudders* Cornelia Funke. Have you ever read Dragon Rider? Ew. I mean, Eragon just fits all of the details that the other books missed. Like connections between elves and dragons, vegitarians, mind connections between dragons and elves, the Varden... I still like it. |

Um, not to be rude, but I don't think you can remember me seeing as I wasn't here when you became a memeber. I don't really like dragon rider, but Inkheart is one of my favorite books of all time. Funke demostrates a talent for old time story telling in a modern setting. It's really magical. Eragon doesn't even come close to that. Instead of making you feel like your in a magical world, its makes you feel trapped in a fake, violent prison. (And I really hope you did not just say that Eragon is better than lord of the rings.) |

Of course not. Nothing is better than LOTR. But sometimes I read other books, when I'm not re-reading it (I know, it's crazy), and I read Eragon.
I meant that I hadn't forgotten who you were. I've read some of your posts...I'm not sure what you thought I meant. |

May I remind you that the plot of Eragon is nearly identical to the plot of the original Star Wars film? |

Apart from the dragons. Hey, Luke has the force, Eragon has a dragon. Look at it. Boy lives with his uncle, boy discovers something wonderful, boy realizes he is destined for greatness, boy leaves with old man who will be his mentor, boy does not think mentor is anything special, when boy returns to uncle, he finds that uncle is dead, Mentor ends up dying at a later point, boy discovers mentor is actually a very special person... Need I go on? Oh, and the 'bond" described between the dragons and the riders is nearly identical to that which Anne McCaffery describes in her series The Dragon Riders of Pern. |

You forgot boy finds out that father is a royal jerk and incredebly evil. And both Luke and Eragons childhood homes are burned down. And they both fall in love with warrior-like girls. The only difference is one has a neon light tube and the other has a fancy lizard. |

Okay, so, she's an elf princess. Still a princess. (Though I don't believe it actually tells you that until book two...) |

Ugh! I'm sorry but I'm getting annoyed. Just because he switched the basic aspects the STORYLINE (not the people in the story, how the events pan out) is the same. And on that note the settings, and general species are almost completely identical to Lord of the Rings. Urgals and orcs? And the elves and their kingdom. Not to mention the ancient fortress built into a mountain. |
