Nah, the bit I'm thinking of isn't in there
It's not really an insult, and doesn't involve Nat, just Bart and an unfortunate victim

You mean Bartimaeus and the letter-carrying imp? Only saying that because part of it is in your signature.

I can't decide which is my favourite book out of the three... :ermm: ..it's between AOS and PG really.... ^o) .i agree that AOS was the funniest but in PG we found out about ptolemy and stuff.....so I think PG is first....then AOS....and last GE...

Which is (generally) what people think.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is very interesting, in that unlike almost EVERY other book series there is out there, it is better later on than it is to start out.

That said, my evident opinion of the order of the books, is, from best to worst:
Ptolemy's Gate --> The Golem's Eye --> The Amulet of Samarkand

Having said THAT, i will now say that all the books were riveting and great, some of the best fantasy novels I've read. Brilliant plot, characters, and ideas.

Shut up!
You can't possibly choose the best from the series!? :ninja2:
No No No. . . . NO.
It's the Bartimaeus Trilogy. All three books were brilliant and all three had something different. .They were ALL fab and unique in some way.
All had Bart in them, see, and that's what makes ALL of them equally amazing :)

I did mention that they were all brilliant...

"They were ALL fab and unique in some way."

This uniqueness is what gives people their opinions about whether a book is good or not.

In this instance, the people of this thread took in the numerous strengths of all the books, and came to a conclusion that one of them was better than another one, although they were all good.

I must admit I really enjoyed the Golem's Eye for its in-depth look at the British Government, but I loved Ptolemy's Gate even more in that respect. However, I am loyal to the Amulet of Samarkand, which has, by far, the happiest ending :) .
"I am Bartimaeus! I am Sakhr al-Jinni, N'gorso the Mighty and the Serpent of Silver Plumes! I have rebuilt the walls of Uruk, Karnak and Prague. I have spoken with Solomon. I have run with the buffalo fathers of the plains. I have watched over Old Zimbabwe till the stones fell and the jackals fed on its people."

Yeah, AoS gets a medallion o' optimism, but I still like PG the best.
It keeps some of the intricacy of the government, particularly Nat's involvement with it, but adds the historical background of Bartimaeus, and details the (up until that point) mysterious Ptolemy.
The battles, and the detail in describing Bart's condition are pluses as well, and the ending is just epic.
My, this post wasn't nearly as intelligent-sounding as I would've liked, but I'm tired.
I need a Monster.
