I dont think they can get promoted because its the least powerful spirits who get summoned the most. I know we kinda established this earlier but i just wanted to add another support to the theory.
I loved the Bartimaeus books but, like all trilogies, it was way too short.

I don't get how certain djinni can suddenly become afrits. If you recall the second book, Jessica Whitwell's demon was a djinni in a bear's form. But in the third, just before she was killed by Nouda, the book said that the same demon was her afrit.

i think theres a typo in one of the two books!

"The Earth is the center of the universe." - Ptolemy

"Nothing important happened today." King George's journal on the 4th July, 1776.

"Well, try giving yourself a rude gesture. It just doesn't work, does it?" Bartimaeus, final footnote of his trilogy.

The spirit was a Djinni by Majority.
The 1st and 2nd book call it a Djinni, "...while the woman uttered [something] to summon her djinni..." and then in Golem's Eye, respectively.
Sorry, my memory's not as good when I'm tired as hell.

It's like coming into school with all "C"s automatically and no matter how hard you try you can't ever get a C+ XD

That or trying to be someone you aren't like if you are a student you cant just automatically become a lawyer or something like that.

No.
The Demi-prefix means "half", therefore making a Demi-Afrit greater than any Djinn, but lesser than an afrit.

I know, but some might mistake it to be a djinni & others an afrit.

Hardly. One fight or demonstration of power would tell the difference.

But when there is no fight? Only once did we see Whitehall's djinni fight.
