Krim, the echoing would work exactly the same on a normal TV than in the cinema. Adding echoes to words isn't difficult to do with a decent sound editor.

Every film on the market is designed for surround sound. Smaller speaker setups are perfectly capable of playing surround sound, you know. Just adjust the volume on the speakers you do have so it sounds vaguely directional.
