If JS has any say in the movie, I doubt it. Still, he would prefer having a film sans footnotes than not have a film. |

Stroud will want them in. Flashbacks? No. Disrupts the flow of the film too much. Fight Club style, I'm tellin' ya. *I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection.* Did you know the "recipe" for Napalm is wrong. The studios didn't want a bunch of people going and making Napalm. They changed it. Recipe: 1. Take Gasoline 2. Take Styrofoam, any kind. I here packing peanuts work very well. 3. Put styrofoam in Gasoline until it won't "absorb" any more. 4. Have fun. 5. Disclaimer: Not liable for anything you do with this recipe. What you do with it is your choice. Sad i have to put that. |

Hello. As this is my first post here, I am obviously new. I adore the Bartimaeus Trilogy, and I would love to see it as a movie. Good movie = happy fanatics. And Barty deserves much more popularity than he's getting right now, right? Only the chances of a bad movie are much higher than a good movie. The only good one's Lord of the Rings, in my opinion. Which is why I nominate PETER JACKSON for the AoS movie. He would do a wonderful job. Also, there'd be the added pleasure (or discomfort?) of a very long movie, hehe. Also, Bartimaeus fans should get to write the script...heck, Mr. Stroud should write the script. Just as long as the Wonderful World of Barty doesn't get warped into another Eragon. Or the new Eragon--Twilight. And provided that they find good actors for Bartimaeus and Nathaniel...-coughs and pokes favorite character- My view on the footnotes--perhaps the movie could freeze and Bart could walk around explaining his views on something and occasionally doodling with a marker for further expression....no, wait, no! Way too cheesy. <_< But they can't omit the footnotes...0_0 Sorry for the long post. - Arasinai |

Actually, they are. The most funny, plot important will make it in, but there are simply too many of then for narrative ease. |

Arasinai. Keep posting.Yeah, they obviously can't add all the footnotes. The most funny & interesting ones would suffice. |

Are they doing any footnotes? If they don't, it just won't be Bart. |

I'm sure they'll include the footnotes...somehow... They can just put them as subtitles...not particularly visually interesting, though. I googled the film and apparently the film's being directed by a John Madden...I sense foreboding in the last name... |

I always thought Bartimaeus's voice should just say the footnote-thoughts throuout the movie without him having to move his mouth. |

That simply detracts too much focus from the plot. It's a 2 hour movie; The director and his croneys will kill his copy of the book, perform the vilest necromatic rituals on it and make pacts with the Dark Godz to stream it into our very consciousness. |

arasanai! and yea they should COMPLETELY quit the idea of a bart movie..they'd just screw it up...and if its REALLY necessary then they shouldnt add any crappish ideas of their own and stick to the book only..and IF they mess up ANY of the characters i will kill myself..over exaggerated but still..i mean cmon...i cant just sit and watch a frikkin screwed up version of my favourite book on screen...hmm...well its up to JS though..if he wants it its absolutely fine...he should write the script...yes..the script should ideally just be the book itself.but then the movie would last the whole day..wouldnt be a short film for sure..:P... hmphfff!! |

I'm afraid to even watch the movie, in case it gives the book a bad taste. |

we arent saying the movie will be bad...itll rock for the ones who havent read the book..but for those who have, itll suck royally..they cannot possibly cover everything..itll take untill eternity to first of all make the film itself...lets see how it happens..

This is kind of random, but what about Bartimaeus's voice? In Eragon, Saphira's voice ruined the whole movie. Well, the book was bad anyways, but still. If they have a really deep and ugly voice that can't do sarcasm it will suck. |
