Well, we're being realistic.....look at how long it has taken to create an Artemis Fowl movie.

And still...nothing.

As long as the person who's chosen to do Bart doesn't mess him up, then I'm perfectly ok!

In Ptolemy's form, you mean? Cause those gargoyle and lizard forms will probably be done with CGI.

Well, I meant his voice actor (just in case Bartimaeus was something else beside his human form), but if the Ptolemy in the film turned out to be entirely different from the Ptolemy in the book, I'd be disappointed at that as well.

The movie captivating the heart of the book, that's what counts. =)

I wonder how they'd do that...I guess cast Ptolemy's image for the first movie, but he'd be changed by the third. Maybe they should shot some parts back to back.

At the least, be mentally prepared for dissapointment, so if and when it comes, the blow isn't as hard as it would have been otherwise. I don't think authors have much of a say in there books' movies these days.

Unless they refuse to sign unless they get their way with the movies.

The movie industry's really desperate to get some money these days...they won't even care if they wrecked the book, just as long as they make the movie look good so that more ppl would go and watch it while the industry is getting a profit.

Or am I just bashing Hollywood for no good reason whatsoever?

Stroud won't let them do that.
I think he'll only let them make it if He gets full control.
Ayn Rand did that, and the project got sidelined 'till she died, and now an Atlas Shrugged movie is due in the next couple/three years.

Quite frankly, I can't believe Hollywood actually believes these movies are any good or will make money.

Eh.
Look at what happened with LotR.
Hollywood, amazingly, sometimes gets it right.
Mostly.

Personally, I don't think a movie will ever be made. There's been a recent influx of fantasy movies based on books, and most of them have flopped.

But that was rare.

And Bart, sorry, is no LOTR--it won't get that kind of budget or confidence.

Ever since LOTR, I don't think these movies are trying to be original these days...

Just an idea, but I wonder what would happen if they made a TV mini-series of Bart instead.

I don't know if that would work, without being lame if it were live action.

The special effects are so important.

Like I keep saying, keep the humans live-action, use CGI for the Spirits.
