i think that they will do a good job. the third , fourth Harry potters were good. the fifth has potential. Narnia sucks in the book, so what does the movie promise. Eragon, well that was an ok book also but still the directer blew. Barti has just as much or more potential than all the books combinded. dont you worry, they know that if they do a good job they can make a LOT of money. the have another harry potter type money maker on there hands. its not as popular becuase its not known, get a few people to know it and wham. his dark materials, well uh i read that book and was like "ok?" i am never touching this again, see its in the plots. harry potter had a lot of moments in the earlier books that had to be cut out. Bartimaeus shouldn't be as hard.

Wait you're saying Narnia is worse than Eragon?

1. Narnia beats Eragon by 1 to 1,000,000,000,000,000,000. It's like, Lewis fights Paolini. Lewis has a rapid fire Chaingun, Air Support, Kevlar body armour, a shotgun, 2 backup Desert Eagle handguns, and is trained in hand to hand combat. Poalini has a small pocket knife. When the fight begins, Paolinin stabs himself in the eye, and Lewis blows the crap out of him with his Chaingun, hits him with a shotgun blast as he falls to the ground. Then he buries his dead body with a few thousand tons of bombs using his Air Support option. And I don't even like Narnia very much.

2. The only way BT film would work is if Stroud was the director. Period.

1. Agree for the most part.

2. No way. Stroud should be a producer or help a bit with the continuty with the script. But he just doesn't have film experience. So let's bring in Peter Jackson!

Okay, Peter Jackson could do a good job, but Stroud needs to be right there beside him, making sure it stays as true as possible.

Of course.

But he's not a director....and films need to change things sometimes to make it work. Not everything, or it'd be stupid, but probably a few things.

What ever happened to the Artemis Fowl movie idea?

From Wikipedia:

Artemis Fowl is an upcoming film, based on the best selling series of the same name.

[edit] Main Overview

In a 2002 BBC interview, the author Eoin Colfer named Lawrence Guterman as the director. This has now been proven to be true, he has just recently been titled for director and more information will come as reported. Colfer said that he was "especially glad that they are going to be looking for an Irish Artemis."[1].

In a very recent 2007 AFC interview, Colfer stated the following:

I have been working intermittently on the screenplay for the past year with Jim Sheridan the Irish director. We have kept the heart of books one and two but I also wanted to do something cinematic and spectacular so we added a big exciting ending. No new characters but plenty of new one liners. I really love the story and we hope to go into production this Summer. No cast yet.

[edit] Actors

Confirmed actors:

None confirmed as of May 21, 2007.

Claims to be posting some new information between the 1st and the 3rd of July.

Using my Non-Existent psychic powers, I shall forsee the quality of the upcoming Artemis Fowl movie...

It shall be...

Crap. Probably. I dunno, if Colfer's working pretty closely with the Director, it might mean it'll be better than most.

Anyways, has Stroud mentioned his movie anywhere? 'Cause it'd be good to hear what his opinion on it is, how much he'll be involved, etc, etc.

I agree with you about Colfer's movie, and Stroud mentioned it in the Answered questions. Poke around there some.

It has been confirmed.

I wonder when it will actually come out? I would definately see it in theatres.

Multiple times.

Possibly.

I know the night is not as it would seem,
I must believe in something,
So I'll make myself believe it,
That this night will never go.

If it's not awful.

Well, the guy who wrote Alex Rider, if you read those books, worked closely with the flim makers on Stormbreaker, but it was only decent. In my opinion, of course.

But then again the guy who wrote Holes wrote the script to the movie, I believe, and it was really good.

I agree with you completely. Although Stormbreaker was pretty awful if you ask me.

Holes was really good, I thought it was better than the book, even.

I'm just gonna add a couple of Questions Stroud answered about the movie.

About Stroud's involvement in the film, but it was asked very early so Stroud couldn't say much.

Quote:

Fredobar: After having read an earlier thread saying that there is a possible film of the Amulet of Samarkand still in planning, I was just wondering how much input you were having in the film and whether the filmmakers/directors were going to do the book justice? Demon fights such as Bartimaeus robbing Lovelace's house and especially Ramuthra's summoning at the end I'm sure will look spectacular, I just hoped that they will let you have a say in the making and writing of the film so that the film has the depth and plot needed to keep all the charm and energy the book had. Hmm, I suppose most of that isn't a question so much as wishful thinking.

Thanks a lot for your time.
P.S. Onto another subject, perhaps you could appear in the film!

Stroud:Well, things are pretty quiet on the film front at the moment, I'm sorry to say. Having said that, they can suddenly move fast, so I'm not giving up hope. In the early discussions with the film-makers, they were very good and allowed me to look at the screenplay and chat with them about their ideas. I think it would be a mistake for an author to get TOO involved with the movie, which after all works under different rules; but it would be nice to be somewhere on the sidelines. We'll see. There's plenty of wishful thinking on my side, that's for sure.

As for taking part, maybe I could cameo as a horrid imp or something...

About Actors.

Quote:

Ocean-Beaty: If a movie were made, do you want unknown teenage actors to play kitty and nat?

Stroud: If the movie gets made then yes, I would assume that unknown teenage actors would be the best bet, because there are no preconceptions with them. Mind you, there are probably lots of great teenage actors who are already successful who would do a fantastic job as well.

Yays long answers without actually saying anything.
