The best basis for a movie is a short story, it's hard to do with long books because there's so much to cut out, and then with things like bartimaeus you have to make it more marketable.

Cut outs? Yeah, it's doomed.

There's a sizeable fanbase, so no danger of a complete flop.

The best basis for a movie is a independant script.

If the book is too short, then they will add fillers.

Nearly every movie that came from a book sucked.

We can only hope that this is not the case for Barti.

It says, "young wizard." Who do they think he is, Harry Potter? No! He's better than that.

I guessing that it will be a piece of crap, just like pretty much every other Book into Movie conversion attempts I've seen. They Mangled Eragon, they Destroyed the Harry Potters, they Explodifacated Narnia, they Eliminated Stormbreaker, they absolutely smashed the Series of Unfortunate Events series into the ground, and I'll stop there because the list would go on too long and I've already run out of words to describe how badly these adaptions have gone.

As much as I want the Movie to be good, I know not to get my hopes up.

I thought Narnia was rather true to the book.

I know. He's a magician, not a wizard. Wizards have their own magic.

But magicians know better than to do things on their own.

And they're more awesome.

Acctually, I thought Narnia was faithuful as well, as faithful as faithful gets in book-movie conversions.

I'm kinda dreading the film... I'm SO worried that they'll slaughter it like they did w/ Eragon and many others.
