And so there is.

Back to the film, do you think that Bartimaeus will be totally CGI?

Oh no..I just remembered that I'm of the opinion that it shouldn't be live-action. Some of you will definitely disagree with this, but I think BT will work well as a Disney animated film. (not 3D like the Incredibles, but more of a mix, like Treasure Planet) I wouldn't mind Miyazaki directing as well. (Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away)
Nothing to see here, move along.

Barti as a cartoon? Hell no.

I suspect that Barti will be a mix of CG and real animals. Some of the more exotic forms will have to be CG, but for stuff like the falcon, they'll probably use real animals.

CG will work for most, Bart's forms are mostly exotic.

I really don't want it as a cartoon 'cause no one will take it seriously. CG sounds good. I want them to use the same crew that did Lotr and I think Narnia. (not sure)

Look how they slaughtered The Chronciles of Pydrian.

I wasn't talking about 'cartoons', i prefer not to use that term because it just smacks of Tom & Jerry and other such Saturday morning rubbish. I haven't seen the Prydain thing..actually animated films can be very complex and touching. Would like to point out that there have been disasters with CG as well (e.g. Narnia I know lots of people who didn't take that very seriously).

I'm not completely against live action (if it's the LotR team working on it then I say go right ahead!!) but I'm worried that some of the scenes in the books won't be pulled off very well. E.g. Kitty running around the rooftops=people laughing at the resemblance to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon/the Matrix or something.. O.O With animation the possibilities are endless i.e. not really limited by budget or technology.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yes, but it might turn into one big anime thing.

They could pull off the live action, they may have to cut some scenes, but still.

Animation is limited by budget even more than live action, simply because you have to pay for each frame that gets made, and the better the artists, the more you pay.
With live action, prices depend on sets and actors more than how many frames you want.
